James developed his honest and empathetic songwriting style in his early teens by listening to the records of Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and Damien Rice. Inspired by their use of alternative tunings and heartfelt lyrics, his music comes organically alongside his passion and educational experience studying music technology.
This is evident on the track Hunter, a process in which the track was written, recorded and produced in a single 6 hour period. The song provides an earnest mix of acoustic and atmospheric production techniques.
At just 18 years old, James has shown his eagerness to establish a place in the creative industries. Through his involvement with BBC Introducing, experiences such as: Highest Point Festival and a Live Session at Media City, he has developed a confident and professional work ethic as a result of these opportunities.
Continuing his study of music in Liverpool, James currently is developing his songwriting portfolio and polishing his live performance set – planning to release a live EP at the end of 2021.
