I saw this video a few months ago and it completely changed how I see the creative process. If you have stumbled across my post here, PLEASE STOP. Set aside the next 10 minuets and watch this video. Jack Conte (CEO of Patreon) talks about how the greatest artists and creators of all time are skilful in the art of “doing what matters and then stopping”. Artists should instead of working simply for the pleasure of working, should instead be focusing on working to publish. Work to create a massive volume of finished projects because simply, the work will never be finished.
The only thing you can really control as an artist is letting your creations out into the world. Then you come back tomorrow and start again.
How do they finish so many things? They don’t. They publish them anyway.Jack Conte (CEO of Patreon)
